Victoria Hindley, SHELTER PROJECT Organizer and Curator
Victoria Hindley is an artist, writer, and independent curator. As a curator, she collaborates with teams of theorists and artists. In her studio practice, she works with photography, language, and the book form. Interested in exploring the cultural construction of meaning, she applies strategies of decoding such as abstraction, humor, and decontextualization as a way of questioning representations, stereotypes, and institutional constructs. She studied literature, semiotics, and visual arts in the US and Europe and has a BA in Literature and a MFA from Transart Institute. Her work has been exhibited and acquired by collectors and institutions internationally. Recent written contributions include “Exile and Becoming” for Afterimage Journal of Media Arts and Cultural Criticism. >>site
Nina Goldnagl, SHELTER PROJECT Co-organizer
Nina Goldnagl is an artist and photographer. She studied photography at Parsons School of Design in New York (BFA) and Transart Institute (MFA). She assisted renowned photographers including Erich Hartmann in New York or Franz Helmreich in Vienna, and in contract photography for magazines, agencies, and institutions (Magnum Photos, New York; Austrian Cultural Institute, New York; Bundestheater, Vienna). Now, Goldnagl focuses on finding quintessential motifs and moments as a photographer, transforming them into personal images. Her photography is an attempt to moor the valid in our rapid, everyday world, and has received international distinctions including the International Photography Award, IPA; Prix de la Photographie Paris, PX3. >>site
Wolfgang Sützl, SHELTER PROJECT Co-organizer and Translator
Wolfgang Sützl is a media theorist, philosopher, and translator. He has taught at various universities in Austria and internationally. He is currently conducting research on activist media at the University of Innsbruck. Recent publications include Creating Insecurity (ed. with Geoff Cox) and Gewalt und Präzision (Violence and precision, ed. with Doris Wallnöfer). >>site
